Mentors include business people, retired
citizens, college students, homemakers, and elected officials, or just
about anyone who:
-
Cares about youth
-
Wants to make a difference
-
Enjoys being active in the community
-
Has personal interests to share
We have ongoing opportunities
for adults over the age of 20 to become mentors for high school
students in the Bay Point/Concord and Richmond communities.
If you are interested in
making a difference in a young person's life, our volunteer
opportunities are listed with Volunteer Match and The Volunteer Center
of Contra Costa County. Click on either organization's links
below for current opportunities with Invest In Kids.

Our goal
is for students to be coached through their school challenges and
supported to prepare for college. Students in our program receive a
nominal scholarship after they graduate high school, but the main
component is the mentoring relationship with an adult who can both
model the positive aspects of adulthood while calling forth the
student's potential.
Volunteers receive
mentoring training and have a solid support network available to
them. The minimum commitment is one year. However the aim is that
the matches will lead to life-long friendships as some of our most
successful matches are well on their way to becoming. Our hope is for
our Mentors to support their students all the way through the first
year of college with all of its delights and challenges.
Mentors are the cornerstone of
our program; however, Invest in Kids benefits from volunteers
in several other ways.

creativity, please contact us.
